Vegetable Production Facility
The Green Point is a cooperative with its own production facility and more than 15 vegetable producers cultivating vegetables on 45 hectares of land, utilising both open fields and greenhouses to produce high-quality vegetables year-round. The Cooperative is able to produce close to 2.000 tons of fresh vegetables yearly, out of which around 15% is sold through the sister company Green Point Short Food Supply Chain. With a commitment to environmentally friendly practices, Green Point employs innovative techniques to cultivate fresh produce while minimising ecological impact.
Green Point implements, tests, validates and demonstrates various data-driven technologies (IoT, robotics, irrigation, data gathering, traceability) in the production environment, leveraging data analytics, optimisation of vegetable growth, conservation of resources, and enhancing productivity, pivoting the way to sustainable farming practices.


Short Food Supply Chain
The SHORT FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN (SFSC) Living Lab is built around the fully deployed, biggest and most advanced regional SFSC called Green Point, located in Pomurje region. The LLs mission is to:
- Empower cities and regions as agents of food system transformation by providing an innovation-driven ecosystem for driving social change and
- Provide an end-to-end technological and collaborative environment where SFSC actors and solution providers (SMEs, startups) could meet and use the Living Lab for systemic innovation in the areas of food production & processing, distribution, marketing, access and food consumption.
The SFSC LL involves more than 70 food producers, a logistics and distribution centre, a warehouse facility and different sales channels (wholesale, retail store and online shop), distributing and selling local food to public institutions (schools, kindergartens, elderly homes, …), HORECA sector organisations (hotels, restaurants and canteens) and citizens. The SFSC LL is continuously implementing innovative business models and technologies while actively contributing to increasing the proportion of local and safe food through awareness-raising campaigns. Moreover, the LL is providing innovation infrastructure to test technologies and demonstrate new value chains developed within the food supply, with Multi-Actor Approach involving consumers and consumer organisations, policymakers, local governance, academia, business actors, food actors, civil society and NGOs.
