DEMO FARMS
Living Lab
DIH AGRIFOOD DEMO FARMS is a unique "user-centred" and "place-based" ecosystem, which involves farmers, agricultural advisors, solution providers, scientists and other relevant partners in systemic research and co-design, testing, monitoring, evaluation and demonstration of solutions in real-life settings - at farms, to improve their farming practices, accelerate adoption of new technologies and support policy development.
DEMO FARMS comprise five large groups of activities and services:
- Implementation of new technologies, services and equipment
- Use of advanced digital platforms and tools
- Integration of farmers and other stakeholders in DIH AGRIFOOD Data Space
- Raising knowledge and skills through DIH AGRIFOOD support services, awareness raising, demonstrations and knowledge transfer
- Support in financing and funding
DEMO FARMS are based on DIH AGRIFOOD partners that operate and undertake experiments and other multi-layered activities on more than 10 farms (20 sites) at the regional (NUTS 2 – Eastern Slovenia) and sub-regional (NUTS 3 - Pomurje region) level.
DEMO FARMS are focused on creating a cross-collaboration environment where various actors work together on themes of common interest in order to replicate actions and solutions, compare results, exchange good practices, validate methodologies and benefit from cross-fertilisation within a local/regional setting. DEMO FARMS sites are therefore considered places for the demonstration of solutions, training, communication, and policy support that are exemplary in their performance in terms of optimisation of farming practices and digital transformation.
