Demo Farms

Demo Farms, in DIH AGRIFOOD, form a user-centred and place-based innovation ecosystem, where farmers, agricultural advisors, technology providers, researchers, and other stakeholders collaborate to test, demonstrate, and validate innovative agricultural solutions in real farming environments.

Demo Farms combine real farming environments with a methodological framework that enables structured collaboration with farmers to test and demonstrate innovations under real farming conditions.

Through their activities, Demo Farms:

  • serve as pilot and testing environments for digital tools, technologies, and innovative solutions in agriculture
  • enable validation of technologies under real farming conditions (“test before invest”)
  • support technological pilots and the progression of Technology Readiness Levels (TRL)
  • facilitate the use of advanced digital platforms and support integration into the DIH AGRIFOOD Data Space
  • contribute to the innovation and service infrastructure of DIH AGRIFOOD, including demonstrations, training activities, and support in accessing innovation funding
  • operate through cross-collaboration, enabling actors to work together on common challenges, compare results, exchange good practices, and replicate successful solutions

DIH AGRIFOOD Demo Farms are hosted by farmers, and collaborate with experts, who are part of the DIH AGRIFOOD network, to carry out experiments, demonstrations, and innovation activities. The network currently operates across more than 10 farms (20 demonstration sites) at the sub-regional level in the Pomurje region (NUTS 3) and at the regional level in Eastern Slovenia (NUTS 2).
