GREEN POINT
Living Lab

Green Point Living Lab (GPLL) is an Effective Member of the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL), the international federation of Living Labs that supports open innovation ecosystems based on co-creation, real-life experimentation, and multi-stakeholder collaboration.

As part of this network, GPLL applies the Living Lab approach within the agrifood sector and uses this methodology to support the transformation of the Pomurje region’s food system. The Living Lab is dedicated to fostering sustainable production and consumption, reducing food waste, and promoting knowledge sharing and awareness. Through sustainable agricultural practices and community-driven research and innovation, GPLL contributes to the transition towards more resilient and sustainable agrifood systems.

What are Living Labs?

“Living Labs are user-centred, open innovation ecosystems based on a systematic user co-creation approach, integrating research and innovation processes in real-life communities and settings“
(ENoLL)

Role of Green Point Living Lab

Within the DIH AGRIFOOD ecosystem, Green Point Living Lab serves as a collaborative innovation environment that supports the development, testing, and validation of solutions for the agrifood sector. Through a multi-actor approach, it brings together farmers, researchers, companies, and public actors to co-create and evaluate innovations in real-life environments, contributing to the goals of the EU Farm-to-Fork (F2F) strategy.
The Living Lab focuses on technological (e.g. blockchain, big data, data sharing), economic (circular economy, food loss and waste reduction), and social innovations (consumer participation, local food networks).

Through its activities, the Living Lab:

  • facilitates the co-creation and validation of innovations, engaging multiple stakeholders in the development process
  • enables a sufficient an tailored involvement of farmers, companies, researchers, and other relevant actors across the agrifood value chain
  • supports the identification and framing of practical challenges within the agrifood system, ensuring that innovation responds to real needs
  • provides real-life environments for testing and applying digital solutions in the agrifood sector
  • supports the iterative development and transition of innovations from pilot activities to practical implementation, bridging experimentation and real-world adoption

The Green Point Living Lab follows the core principles of the Living Lab approach:

Real-life experimentation

Iterative learning

These principles ensure that innovations are developed in close interaction with end users and stakeholders, increasing their relevance, usability, and potential for real-world adoption.

Within this framework, DIH AGRIFOOD complements the Living Lab by supporting the development and deployment of digital technologies and services, helping translate co-created solutions into scalable applications.
